JET SET, GO!
Jet Hidy is currently a junior in the Guitar department. Surprisingly, being around an environment of classical guitarists has impacted his playing significantly. As new musical concepts and styles are introduced to Jet, he implements them on electric guitar (he wouldn’t dare try them on classical)!
The video on the right is Jet’s proudest work, a combination of his favorite moments from Guthrie Govan’s live performances, collaged into a personal version of “Waves.”
Guthrie Govan, an English guitarist, named "Guitarist of the Year" by Guitarist magazine in 1993, is one of Jet’s musical idols. After discovering Govan’s music, Jet’s playing style has changed dramatically.
Jet also has to give credit to his academic classes. The video on the left is a piece he wrote for English class, where he talks about immigration and its influence on Fusion Rock in America. He incorporates scales and techniques that have been introduced to American culture by Immigrants. Having these assignments gives him prompts and inspiration he wouldn’t be able to come up with alone.
